I'd forgot the numberpad for date/time entry. The N9 has a really nice clock view where you move a circular slider to the hand positions of a clock. I like it except for it allows 1 minute accuracy. It should only allow 5. In terms of a swipe-y interface, it is one press or swipe to set the hour, and another to set the minute. Compare this to 4 presses to enter the time.

I agree, I also like how it's made in N9!

I really like the idea of the design to set the time in this mock up for the timer. https://ubuntu.mybalsamiq.com/projects/ubuntuphonecoreapps/Clock+-+Alarms+-+Timer+-+Stopwatch+%285th+idea%29

It still uses the swiping gestures, but it is easier to set the time more accuratly.

I think it is more practical than hitting buttons, or swiping around the clock to the aproximate time. What does everyone else think?

For me vertical sliders take too much time to setup. General number input is much faster. I think that is reason why google use number input, instead of sliders.
I think canonical devs will decide this questions in ubuntu sdk. Now it supports horizontal sliders, which also easy to use.
Can look like this:
Hours
0 ........12.......... 24
Minutes
0 ..............45.... 60
